Getting Your Shit Together - Part 2

Hi There!

Last time we talked about getting yourself organized. You now know what you want to do and now it's time to start on where you're going AKA: your plan of action. You probably have a few ides on how you're going to achieve your goal and you're raring to go, but you may find it a little more difficult than planned to get things rolling.

Watch out for bad habits! Watching TV when you should be taking new pictures for your website or sleeping in an extra hour instead of writing a much needed blog post can be detrimental to your goal. I'm not saying NEVER watch TV, but schedule time for it after you get your work done or use it as a reward for finishing your goal for the day. Here are a few simple ways to get yourself on the right track!

  • Write yourself a weekly schedule and plan activities (night out, TV, catching some extra Zzzzs) around that schedule.
  • Reward yourself with your bad habit. Tell yourself that you can watch that Criminal Minds marathon IF you get these 3 things done beforehand.
  • Make sure you keep your main goal as your focus. Thinking about how this task could mean faster success of your goal will make you want to finish the task at hand more than you want to watch your show.
  • Learn to say "No." If you don't really feel like going out, but get a dinner invite don't be afraid to say no. Just tell then that you really need to get some work done and schedule dinner for a night you have open....I mean, don't miss out on an awesome night...If they're inviting you to a Led Zeppelin Reunion with Jason Bonham (*dream) by ALL means you should go, just keep your goal in mind and be willing to schedule more time for your goal the next day. As you can probably tell, this is the one I have the hardest time with. I love going out, but I make sure I get my stuff done at home first and THEN go out!
These are the 4 things that most helped me get on track and stay there. Just think about it like this... What is more important to you, achieving your goal as soon as possible, or giving in to your vices?

Stay on track and you may get one of these!!!!

Friday Soundtrack!

In honor of my tickets to go see REVEREND HORTON HEAT next Saturday, I am writing a music post! WooHOO!

I normally don't write music posts because I over think them WAY too much, BUT I thought I'd try it out anyway).

Here are some of my favorite Rockabilly a Psychobilly artists so check these guys out!

Aside from having THE BEST growl in the world, Wanda is probably my favorite female rockabilly artist. She's fantastic. I think she even dated Elvis for a second. The woman is amazing, she debuted in 1956 and is STILL playing shows! I've seen her live 3 times and she's still got it!

I LOVE Ant Thomas' voice. It's gross, grody, and fantastic. These guys are a Welsh Psychobilly band from the 80s. They do a killer cover of Be Bop A Lula (that's conveniently located above this section).

She's the real thing! They called her Female Elvis and she held her own in a male dominated genre in the 50s. One of my heros!

These guys are one of the "roots" bands for psychobilly. Formed in the UK in1980 and are still rockin' out. I love this song...haha!

A Chicago 8 piece rockabilly band that started in 2006 with 3 kick ass front women and some legendary musicians! I first saw them at the Abbey Pub a few years ago and they rocked my socks off! Their sound is a mix of surf, rock and roll, and genuine R&B.

These guys are a newer gothabilly band from Australia and they're kind of hilarious, but still awesome.

How to Get Your Shit Together - Part 1

Hey guys!

I have dubbed March the "Get Your Shit Together Month" for myself and anyone else who wants to tag along. It's been really hard trying to juggle a new job, friends, family, and my online responsibilities all at once. I'm slowly getting acclimated to my new life and am sharing the info in hopes of making it a little easier for you. The first lesson I've learned:

GET ORGANIZED & PLAN AHEAD!
Whatever the task, being organized is the most important step. My definition of organized is making a solid plan on:
1. What you want - Your goal
2. Where you're going - You current standing and what you need to do to achieve your goal
3. Where you want to go - The steps you will take to achieve your goal

For example, getting organized for me meant:
Launching my store, making a schedule for my blog and store upkeep, and writing up a business plan for the future.

What is your big goal?
